Leadership Workshops
...are your people in Performance Mode?
If you want to raise the standard of leadership in a whole layer of managers or executives in your organisation or department, it helps to have a framework that everyone can use.
Having a shared view of what good leadership entails enables managers and executives to work with a common purpose in the way they approach leadership.
Having a common language to describe the elements of good leadership makes communication easier and fosters a spirit of mutual support and encouragement.

The Brilliant Minds Leadership Framework
Our leadership framework is built on two established models and provides a practical approach to creating and maintaining Performance Mode in you and your team.
This alignment doesn’t happen by accident. It takes conscious, deliberate action by a committed leader or leadership team to create Performance Mode and sustain it. It applies not just to the team, but also to the leader. Hence it involves self-awareness and self-care as well as attention to all the team members. Leaders working together as a team are a key aspect of success.
There are three key elements to our new leadership framework:
- The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model
- The SCARF Model
- Performance Mode
The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model
The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model was developed through a research project on the behaviours of leaders whom people were motivated to follow. It focused on a voluntary organisation, where it was easy to see the most successful leaders. For the good leaders, people showed up to meetings, got involved in projects and took on responsibility. For the poor leaders, they stayed at home and didn’t get involved.
We have translated this model very successfully into the world of business. It sheds light on what to do, rather than on how to be. The model enables leaders to reflect on their style of leadership. It shows when to shift the balance between different kinds of activity as a leader, in order to respond to shifting circumstances. Like a global pandemic. Or a war. Or a complete disruption of your market.
When you apply the Leadership model you have a team of people who:
- Have a shared purpose and individual roles
- Trust you
- You understand and know how to motivate
- Are encouraged to learn and progress
- Measure performance and report results
The SCARF Model
The SCARF model was developed by David Rock of the NeuroLeadership Institute. This model maps the social concerns that drive behaviour and gives us insight into the sources of workplace stress and strategies to improve wellbeing. Drawing on leading edge neuroscience, it provides a scientific backdrop for a highly accessible model of motivation and highlights the role of neurological responses in performance.
This model draws our attention to:
Status: Our relative importance to others
Certainty: Our being able to predict the future
Autonomy: Our sense of control over events
Relatedness: Our sense of safety with others
Fairness: Our perception of fair exchanges between people
When you apply the SCARF model you have a team of people who:
- Are confident in their skills and value to you
- Can process a lot of information accurately and use it constructively
- Are able to develop creative solutions to problems
- Can disagree about the work without harming relationships
- Think clearly and share their thoughts
Performance Mode
Performance Mode is the mindset you create when you apply both models. Putting these two models together has enabled us to create a framework for leadership that is based in good solid research and at the same time fits with the intuitive sense many leaders have gained over years of experience. Our combined model recognises that leadership involves multiple skills and gives insight on how to develop those key skills and how to maintain Performance Mode for you and your team.
This programme includes workshop days with the whole group and one-to-one coaching. It can be augmented with individual and team profiles, extra skills training or work on organisational culture. A review session is also included, to share the learning and successes and provide a focal point on completion of the coaching.
We work with you to create a programme unique to your leaders, your teams and your current priorities.
